Class Description

Code & Create is a creative computer science–focused program designed to help young children build the foundational thinking skills they need for the future—through a thoughtful blend of technology, creativity, discussion, and hands-on exploration. While some activities involve building and making, Code & Create is not always traditional hands-on STEM. Instead, computer science concepts are the core thread, woven through storytelling, games, problem-solving challenges, creative design, and age-appropriate technology use. Children learn how computers and systems think, how technology can be used to solve problems, and how to approach challenges strategically—all in a way that feels playful, immersive, and developmentally appropriate. Core Areas of Exploration Code & Create is a computer science–centered program that intentionally blends multiple disciplines to give children a broad, future-ready foundation. While computer science and coding are the core, children also explore related areas that support deeper understanding and real-world application. Children engage with: - Coding & Computer Science – sequencing, logic, algorithms, systems thinking, and debugging - Robotics & Robotic Systems – understanding how machines sense, decide, and act -Art with Technology – using technology as a creative medium for expression - Games & Strategy – rule-based thinking, game logic, and decision-making - Construction & Building – planning, structure, and spatial reasoning - Engineering Thinking – designing solutions, testing ideas, and improving them over time. These areas are woven together intentionally, rather than taught in isolation, helping children see how skills connect. Class Structure & Experience Each Code & Create class is 1 hour and 30 minutes and intentionally designed to balance digital exploration and hands-on activities. Within a single session, children may move between logic games, creative challenges, building, discussion, and technology-based work, keeping the experience dynamic and engaging. Every class is unique, while still following a progressive curriculum. Ideas and ways of thinking build naturally over time, helping children grow more confident and capable as problem-solvers. No prior coding, computer science, or technology experience is required. Children can join at any point and will be supported wherever they are in their learning. Designed for ages 4-7 years old.
